Vicar
Revd. Duncan J Campbell

"I trained for the ordained ministry at St Johns’ College, Durham and was curate at St Paul’s Mill Hill from 1987. People often ask why I left my previous work in computers to become a clergyman: it’s simply that I felt very strongly called by God to at least explore the possibility and 25 years later, here I am!

I’ve been vicar of St Hugh and St John’s since 1992. From the first, I’ve been impressed with the energy of church life here, and the willingness of so many people to be involved with the church’s activities. As this is a joint Church of England and Methodist Church, as well as being the Anglican vicar, I’m also an “Authorised Minister” in the Methodist Church. This means that I can look after the Methodist church members here and also take services in other local Methodist Churches.

What really fires me is seeing people discovering faith in Jesus Christ and growing in that faith. It’s a faith I’d like to see the whole community share.

Curate
Rev Fiona Wheatley

"I am the curate here at St Hugh and St John and I am here on a three year training programme. Before becoming a priest I was a school teacher in Stevenage and I am also a trained nurse and midwife.

I was born in London, brought up in Stevenage but I have also lived in Kent, Suffolk, Humberside, Derbyshire and Germany.

My interests are in history, church history, reading, needlework and playing online adventure games. I like almost anything connected with angels and dragons - an unlikely combination!

At church I assist Duncan in all aspect of the parish and particularly enjoy pastoral work and teaching bible study."
